A Not-Very Exciting Weekend To-Do List

Saturday, January 29, 2011

The only reason I'm sharing this incredibly boring weekend to-do list with you is because sometimes when I read about other people kicking butt by.....

a) tackling a bunch of projects or
b) organizing stuff or
c) running a marathon or
d) giving up soda pop or
e) cooking a magnificent home-made meal......

........I get totally jealous inspired and motivated to do something productive. So maybe if you read about me tackling some projects around the house that I really don't want to do it will motivate you to do the same.

Project #1

My lovely inlaws shipped my Pottery Barn curtains all the way from sunny Florida (happy dance, happy dance).

But before I can hang them up in the sunroom someone has to do something with this:

Last year during the spring melt-athon we had a small water leak in our front sunroom from a build-up of snow. Alex and the fam replaced the roof the following week so the damage was minimal, but we still have this little spot to fix up. Boooo.

Project #2

Last weekend I decided to swap some pictures around. I am loving how this print looks in this little spot, however since this picture is bigger than the last, it's sitting a bit too low. I'll either have to move the hangy things at the back of the frame or patch the wall and put a new screw and anchor in a higher spot.

Project #3

'Member this before and after project? Well I kind of cheated and posted the after before the matching chair was done. I'm still feeling ashamed about it. It can't stay like this forever. It's just begging to be white to match the desk. I am so not looking forward to the three coats of white paint it will need after the sanding and the primer.

Project #4

My closet. It is literally piled higher than my waist with clean clothes strewn everywhere. I have some sort of putting-away-clothes disorder where I leave clean, folded clothes in laundry baskets all around the house. Then, when I'm running late for work (which I am everysingleworkingdayofmylife) I throw them all around looking for the least wrinkled pants I can find in the 2 seconds I allotted to get dressed. It's like a bomb went off in my closet. It's embarrasing, hence the lack of a before picture. This project has been on my to-do list since the Christmas break. I need to just get'er done.

Project #5

I was totally inspired by Lissa's post over at Humble Pie where she wrote about cooking with fresh ingredients. As soon as I finished reading it I tried to block out the image of the Pogo I had just had for lunch. Mmmm, pogos. This week I went to the market and bought stuff. Vegetables and things. Saturday and Sunday night I'll be making some fresh, homemade meals. I may even try to make some homemade granola bars for during the week.

We'll see how many of these projects actually get accomplished.  ;)

So, enough about me. What are you up to this weekend?

  1. I don't have anything too exciting planned for the weekend..we have a lot of things going on at church, so that limits my time for projects. I do have a chair & a shelf that I am wanting to paint...maybe I will work on that. Oh..and the little cabinet in my kitchen ( I painted it blue by the way) its still not done. Need to put another coat of paint on it & want to do some distressing...Good Luck on your projects! Hope you get most of them knocked out!!

    p.s. I also have a putting-away-clothes disorder...worst chore ever!!

  2. Hockey and a little more hockey!! In between trying to get renos done. and it is now 11:40pm and I just put a brownie in the oven. Friends are going to the city where my oldest is going to college and dropping a few things off to him ( last minute decision) so I thought I better be a good mom and include something for Kaleb to enjoy! Before I know it, it will be Sunday evening and the week starts again. Good luck on your to do list :)

  4. Yay! I'm always motivated after reading these types of posts too. I have family coming for dinner tonight, so I have no choice but to clean my little heart out and finish everything up around the house today. That always works for motivation too!

  5. Hello! Love your blog! I was reading your to do list...mine is 2 pages long of annoying little unfinshed projects! Have you ever used spray paint to paint furniture? At least for the firt few coats? No sanding needed...super fast drying time btw coats and covers awesome. Huge time saver:) I just did my dining room chairs and people are shocked how beautiful the finish is. 6 chairs done in 1/2 hour. Distressed and all. Maybe this will help the dreaded painting! Sorry for the super long comment!

  7. That is quite a to-do list.

My weekend will involve cleaning and laundry. I've been waiting for a snowday that didn't come and doesn't seem to be coming, so now I have to use the weekend to clean. I also have a couple sewing projects to wrap up, which I'll post about, put more items on eBay, and get some good, fresh food in the house for the week ahead. On top of all that, reading, yoga, long walks, new wine to try, and some movies on the couch :).

  10. I always have a project list, I'm not sure what I would do with a list, since it's never happened before! Right now I'm just looking forward to hopefully the LAST weekend over at our other house, the Peach Palace. My own house has really suffered the last 4 months!

PS, I kind of like how the low the picture is... of course I'm on the short side and tend to hand things low.

PSS, I too have the clothes putting away disorder. I don't even mind folding clothes but HATE to put the away!

  11. Ahh...#4. I tell ya, we could be besties. Move to BC!!!

I am going to the walk in to see what is up with the sore throat I've had for over a week and a half. Then, maybe making cookie dough cupcakes (see my facebook page). I did find a cute bench-seat for the window in daughter-to-be's room, so I may buy that (shhhh!) It's going to be hard to sneak that one into the house...

    Have a great weekend!

  14. Our closets could be friends. And geez Louise...that is quite a list. All in one weekend? So awesome. I'm organizing my new desk/finally have my own little space space. Ignoring the rest of my messes/house.

    Hope you are having fun!

  15. I have the same problem about putting away clean clothes as you do. There is always a pile somewhere. Ugh! Looking forward to seeing that little chair painted. Oh, and I don't know what type walls you have but I wouldn't think that picture needs a screw and anchor. Just an nail or nail w/ hook would do! I had a friend that would hang stuff up with sewing needles just so they wouldn't leave marks in the wall. If you angle them down a lot they are super strong!
