Eating Brownies and Working on a Project

Friday, April 20, 2012

It's been pretty quiet over here for the last few days as I was frantically trying to unpack and organize five thousand baby bouncers, play mats, and whale-shaped baby bathtubs. Where oh where do I put all of this stuff? And why oh why did I think that choosing the tiniest room in the house would be a perfect nursery for Little Ninja?

The good news is that the hospital bag is packed, all of the tiny clothes are washed and folded, and the car-seat is finally installed in our Pathfinder. We're going on a shopping date tonight to pick up the few remaining essentials that we are still missing: a baby monitor and some glass bottles. I have an itch to find a cute new hoodie and a cute pair of joggers, too. All of my current ones are kind of, well, s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d

In other news - I ate a brownie for breakfast. Then I felt gross. The craziest part is that I walked past the plate of brownies a few minutes ago and actually thought about having another one. I refrained. For now.  Seriously, what is wrong with me.

In other, other news - even though it is supposed to be spring we are getting 15-20 cm of snow today. SNOW. Yucky, soggy snow. Just in case you don't believe me, here's the picture I took of Lexie on the deck a few minutes ago:

I think I might have just changed my mind about leaving the house today.

In other, other, other news - now that I'm feeling semi-baby-organized I've got a bit of time to finish up one of the projects that I've been meaning to work on for the last while.

The project includes:
  • A piece of wood
  • Stain
  • Paint
  • Painter's tape
  • Number stickers
  • Sandpaper
Can you guess what it might be??? I'm about to break out the hair dryer to make the paint dry faster. That's how bad I wanna show you what it is.

Oh yeah, and in other, other, other, other news - I thought it would be fun to go for a bike ride with Alex and the dogs yesterday. Let's just say I got a few unusual stares from the neighbours as I biked with my knees out to the sides like I was riding a tiny tricycle. Good times over here, good times.

:)

  1. Well I don't blame you those brownies do look good. Just when you think it is supposed to be spring it starts snowing. If you are anything like here in AB it will be gone by tomorrow.

    1. Well, they were pretty good. And I washed it down with some milk so that made it healthier, right?

I'm hoping, hoping, hoping the snow will be gone by tomorrow but it sure is messing up my plans to rake the yard today!

  2. Are you possibly making a House Number Sign? That's been on my own to-do list for some time because the pizza guy can never find our place...which of course is a very serious issue.

    1. I'd make that house number sign a top priority. PIZZA!!!! Hahaha.

It's a good guess but I'm actually making something else for the baby's room...... I'll make sure to share more tomorrow when I'm finished the tutorial. :)

    1. Yup, we're up in Northern Ontario (about 4 hours north of Toronto) and it is seriously a blizzard right now! It's so crazy.

I am jealous of 23 degrees. We've only had ONE day like that so far.... sniff sniff.

Here's the link to the brownie recipe. It's actually the same recipe on the box of Baker's Unsweetened Chocolate. Soooo good.

  5. You are just too cute. My sis-in-law went for a bike ride at 9 months and had her baby girl the next day.
Looking forward to seeing what you are creating.

  6. Wow! Snow! In Michigan this year we barely had any which was very strange. Your dog is so adorable. I ate some chocolate the other day and then didn't feel so well - I thought about more later too, but stayed away. It tastes so good in the moment!

  8. Aw maaan, it always sucks when it snows in the spring! Well hopefully it goes away soon.
So my guess is that you are making one of those ruler growth chart thingies. Am I right? I guess I'll find out soon enough.
    Have a great weekend!

    1. The weather is so wacky here! Today it's supposed to be sunny so hopefully it will all melt. I'm sure it will still be soggy though.

Sooooo, you're right about the growth chart. I should really go finish it right now.... but I'm so comfy on the couch.....

      ;)

  10. My friend and I can always justify eating a brownie (or cupcake, or cookies) by having a glass of milk with it. We have to keep up our calcium intake!
