Curtain Crisis Update
So I pretty much had a tear when I took down and folded up those white, pin-tucked curtains that I thought would be perfect in my living room. You have to believe me that when they were spread flat they were soooooo nice. But when you bunched them together they were a rumply, wrinkly mess. I returned them on time and was able to get a refund. I'm still sad about it though. I took down the sheer shade and put it back upstairs. I've been looking around for some white linen curtain panels but haven't been able to find any. And the search continues.....
Trunk Painting Decision
I didn't make a final decision yet. Y'all kind of shocked me when the majority of you said not to paint the trunk. I was secretly wishing that you would persuade me to do it. Many of you suggested that I buy the one that was for sale on Kijiiji but once I got the measurements I realized it was too small for the space. I'm sitting in the living room with my feet on the trunk right now. Something is telling me it would be more enjoyable if my feet were on something white with cute stenciled letters. We'll see, though. I'm still sure that Alex would divorce me if I did.
Christmas Wish List
I've had a certain item on my Christmas wish list for awhile now. It's the only item on it. It's a Canon EOS Rebel T1i DSLR Camera. We've been watching the specials at Future Shop for awhile now and last Friday Alex mysteriously disappeared for an hour. Coincidentally, it was the day that the camera dropped $200 in price. I have a sneaking suspicion that my Christmas present could be somewhere in my house right now. AHHHHHHH! Only 50 more sleeps until Christmas morning, but who's counting? Me, me, me, me, me!!!
P.S. What camera do you use? I've been using a small Canon point and shoot but it's really old and I'm ready for something bigger and better. :)

i think it's pretty fab for the price! i completley redid my house last year and all of my fixtures are new so now i have nowhere to put it (i swear they didn't have this light when i was shopping!) but i talked one of my friends into buying it and hanging it in her kitchen. industrial chic! perfect!

ReplyDeleteOh, cameras, my weakness (well, perhaps one of just a few). I have a Canon Rebel xsi, which requires more learning on my part to do it justice - but I just love the "click" sound and the ability to take many, many, many photos in a row with no lag time. And it's professional size - love a bulky camera. Ahhh. My "purse" camera (always have it with me) is a Sony Cybershot H20. Just love it - for a point and shoot, it's got lots of options, great zoon, takes very nice video, and shoots really, really nice pictures (clear, well-saturated - won my first place photo ribbon at the country fair with that one). Got it before heading to Thailand, since I didn't want to lug the Canon, and my Fuji Finepix F40fd (former purse camera) had neither the zoom nor consistent stellar performance I desired for that trip. My first digital, a Canon S1IS, would still be in my active duty collection, but sadly died a year ago. Right before going in to the Cranberries concert. Thankfully had the Fuji for back-up (I always have a back-up camera and batteries)...but that's another story. Hope your hunch about the Christmas gift is right! Oh, and you'll want to check out pretty camera straps to personalize it...Etsy has options, and some photo stores. I have a few on my list...

ReplyDeleteI have a Canon EOS Rebel xsi. I love it! I am still trying to figure out all the options, but have been very pleased. On my list for Christmas are two additional lenses, a light scoop, and fun camera strap covers! Maybe your camera will make an early debut! :)
I have that camera too, and I love it! Got it last year for Christmas, and still want to take a class or two to learn some tricks!

ReplyDeleteIf you want the most perfect...got to die for them...smile every time you see 'em curtains....you must sew them yourself. It seems daunting but there are lots of books (see your local 2nd hand stores for old Singer how to books) and online tutorials out there that have great instructions. Every pair of curtains I have ever had that I loved were sewn by my mom or by both of us as a mom/daughter project. Even though fabric land sucks for interesting and modern craft fabrics, they do have some nice textiles for decorating - even in the bargain section. Your own curtains will be fuller and the perfect length and made with higher quality fabrics for less money than you would spend on the better box store curtains. Believe me - you are just one weekend away from having the perfect curtains on your window.

Hello Sarah! Just found your blog via My Romantic Home. Wanted to tell you that I painted and decoupaged a trunk that was given to me, and am so glad I did. Karla, an artist who writes the blog Karla's Cottage, recently painted a possibly-valuable gold frame that she has wanted to paint for years, and she loves it now. As she said, she had it for her own pleasure, not for resale, so never mind the value. I took her thoughts and am so happy I did! Good Luck! Maravonda
