A Subtle Dresser Makeover

Sunday, June 5, 2011

Yesterday I hauled an old dresser from upstairs into the empty corner in our breakfast room (more before pics here). It looked perfect in the little spot except for the fact that the walls were green and I had painted the dresser a different shade of green a few years ago.

Makeover time!

Before:

I added two coats of Simply White on top of the green and when it was dry I sanded the whole thing with fine grit sandpaper and an electric sander. That's it!

After:

I love the two-toned look it has now. I kept the original drawer pulls as-is. They are so cute!

I think the little shelf I picked up last weekend will look perfect on the wall over top (as soon as can get around to painting it, that is). Hope you're having a great weekend!

  17. I love your blog. I've been eye a dresser similar to this on craigslist but they're asking $170 which is ridiculous. Anyway, I loved this when I first read it here and then was scrolling through Miss Mustard seed and thought "oh that looks cute" and it brought me back here. I guess this girl knows what she likes (and has a terrible recognition ability).
