That would give you more space and perhaps help with the dooor situation (might become a standard size). Alternatively, use the standar size doors (like the downstairs) and mount them on barn door hardware (i.e., sliding doors). Just wondering if yo...The new ones are really nice. Just wondering if you could you ask a local carpenter about cutting some width off to compensate for the narrower opening. Maybe over the two doors it would be doable, maybe not if they are hollow core. Just a thought. We also do not have closet doors on our bedroom closets. The builder put in super ugly and cheap laminate and metal sliders that over the past 14 years have gotten pretty roughed up so we just tossed them.
