Thanks! I bit the bullet and bought four annabelle hydrangeas this past weekend--they're now in the front garden, looking rather sad and stick-like, but hopefully they'll start growing soon. I'd appreciate any advice, as I am a complete gardening novice, and I really, really do not want to kill them :)

I've actually just been working on a post about how I recently pruned my hydrangeas. I think I'll add a bit more details about how I look after them (even though I'm no expert by any means).

I'll try to answer all of your questions in the post and try to have it up by the end of the weekend.

I agree...the darker color will look better. Always remember you can use a can of spray paint and change out a look for pennies. I just sprayed a large $10 urn yesterday and it now looks GREAT.

the pots look great. but i have an unrelated question--could you tell me about your hydrangeas? do you know what type they are? how do you care for them? i need something for in front of our house and i'm thinking of hydrangeas, because they're soooo beautiful. but i live in cold, cold saskatoon (so i understand your pain) and i don't want to plant something that is going to die (and my thumb is definitely not very green). are they hard to care for? what do you do? sorry for twenty questions, but sometimes the garden centres don't know/aren't as helpful when they're busy. thanks!
