Anita, I did one batch of cake but it made enough batter to divide and fill up 3 round cake pans.

I've heard other people using two 9x9 pans or one 9x12 pan for this recipe.

If you don't have any buttermilk you can make your own! Grab a liquid measuring cup and put 1 and a 1/2 tbsp of vinegar into the bottom. Then add milk until you reach 1 and a 1/2 cups on the measuring cup. This will give you enough "sour" milk for this recipe. I do it all the time and it works like a charm!

I just love the old fashioned (?) baking recipes like this.....and you are so right, i think i could eat a piece of cardboard if it had cream cheese icing on it. Keep them coming girlie, weight?
