White Dishes on the Dining Room Cabinet

Friday, February 21, 2014

Every time I go to Homesense I beeline it to the section that houses the plain, white dishes. I always pick up and admire every single white pitcher they have in stock. Every so often I will choose one to bring home with me. On those occasions, Alex can often be heard asking, "Why do you need another white pitcher!?!?!"

As if he even has to ask that question. ;)

White pitchers are my favourite. I've been trying to collect enough to display together on our dining room cabinet. I've never had enough - until today! (Sort of.) You see, I shopped the house and was able to round up eight pitchers. I had to improvise with a gravy boat and a teacup but I'll take what I can get!

The super tall pitcher in the middle looks kind of out of place. I'll have to shift things around a little bit tomorrow. OR, I could always look for a better one at Homesense. I've had my eye on one that has the sweetest little beaded detailing around the top. I hope it's still there. I should really go first thing in the morning (wink, wink).

The white dishes looked really lost all by themselves on the top of the cabinet. So I shopped the house some more and leaned two of my favourite pictures up there, too.

It's getting there.

P.S. I tried to take some more pictures of the dining room to update my embarrassing house tour page. Little Coopaloops was working against me all afternoon. I decided to quit after he took out my tripod with the Swiffer. Luckily I was standing right there and was able to catch my camera before it fell to the floor. I think I'd better save my photo shoots for naptime!

  1. Love your white pitchers and dishes. They look just great on your hutch. I wish I could collect them too, but it would be a sin for me to start one more collection or buy one more dish. I'll just enjoy looking at yours. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Heh. Had to giggle. I beeline for the white pitchers, too! I think I own about 10. I've gathered them above my microwave which is over the stove but under the window (old house- interesting layout ;)
I definitely love them all grouped together...
Love your hutch and that it's interesting, yet simple!

    1. Hi Jen,

I bought the cabinet on a shopping trip in Toronto. The store was called Flik and Compnay. I think they are now called Flik by Design. http://www.flikandcompany.com/

I'm pretty sure it was a one-of-a-kind piece. Thanks so much for your comments!

      :)

    1. The botanical pictures were purchased from Muskoka Living Interiors in Port Carling, Ontario. They were definitely a splurge!

  8. Eeek! That cabinet! The chippy paint and wood top are perfection. I love that you mixed in some natural textures inside the cabinet, too.

  9. Too funny Sarah...I bet if we entered HomeSense at the same time we would be fighting over the same white pitcher! That is the first place I go as well!! A number of your pitchers are the exact ones that are my display shelves and are some of my favorite things. When we were operating our BnB I would often pick up two of the same pitcher,,,so I would have one for the house and one for the BnB. When we moved to our new property, the BnB was sold as a turn key operation,,,,,however, I did keep my pitcher collection! I love your style and the way you have put the items in your hutch together. Pretty cute botanical pictures as well!! Have a great day and stop by the country sometime :)
