Bookcase N' Baskets

Friday, March 22, 2013

Since I'm pretty sure I have the squirmiest baby of all time, we ended up moving the dresser / change table out of Cooper's room a few months ago. I'm telling you..... he kept trying to jump off that thing!

Dresser / change table out.

To fill in the empty space where the change table used to be I moved in a little bookshelf that I had purchased a few years ago from Pottery Barn Kids. It's the Cameron 2-Shelf bookcase.

Since the room is so tiny I thought I would use the bookcase for some additional storage.

Hello, baskets!

I found six matching seagrass baskets at The Great Canadian Superstore. (I often say that I'm going for groceries but really I just browse the home décor section the whole time, heh heh heh.)

The bookcase / basket combo is pretty cute, but kinda boring. I thought I would dress the baskets up a little bit by making some labels for them. I picked up a few supplies at Michael's so stay tuned for a little tutorial sometime over the next few days. :)

P.S. I moved the dresser back down into it's old spot in the breakfast room. I kind of missed it in there.

P.S.S. I deleted four of your lovely comments by accident. It wasn't my fault though. I was feeding the Coopster and playing with my phone at the same time. Then.... he pinched me where it really hurts. Too much information or what!?!?! Bahaha!

P.S.S.S. The wall above the bookshelf needs a little somethin' somethin' but I still haven't decided what yet!

  3. Love it...and everything else you do! I agree with Colleen, you will definitely appreciate it when all the toys need a place to hide!

    1. Thanks Elissa, I agree that they were a great find. I pretty much squealed when I saw them, and then squealed again when I realized they all fit. :)

  6. Love the lego comments...so true! I used to always get my son Lego at the Great Canadian Superstore!!! We live near the border and they always had a few that the States didn't have.
Can't wait to see the labels you come up with!

  7. Storage! Yay! You'll want more as he gets older!!! What about a picture, or shelves for knick-knacks, or a wee coat rack for his gorgeous outfits (or coats!), toy shelf etc etc. Love the wallpaper.

  8. Love, love, love the bookshelf! We used wicker baskets for toys on our bookshelf when my girls were little (they're 15 and 13 now, and taller than me!). Just one tiny piece of advice, if you don't mind...Please consider using a bracket to attach this bookshelf to the wall in your son's room. They will scale pretty much anything, and it's just to be on the safe side, of course. :)

    :)

  9. Cute bookcase/baskets! I'm from California, but I remember going to the Great Canadian Superstore in the Yukon ten years ago (during a family Alaska/Canada trip) and all my sister and I could say was, "wow, this place is like Walmart on crack!" :)
